You didn't know what to say
But I'll commend you today
Can't get out your own way
Well, hold on, hold on, hold on
I'm hiding out in the sun
I'm getting everyone done
Just my head and no one
Here I come, here I come, here I go
Just call me the roller
I'll squeeze and unfold you
Call me the roller
I just go to show you
So you've been crawling through a maze
An alcohol lemon haze
I've been watching you for days, you've been out of sight
Alright, alright
I'll take you somewhere you never knew you'd be
I'll give you something you never knew you'd feel
The only thing is everything is real
Tonight, tonight, tonight
Just call me the roller
I'll squeeze and unfold you
Call me the roller
I just go to show you
Just call me the roller
I'll come blow you over
Call me the roller
I'm pleased that I know you
I'll take you somewhere you never knew you'd be
I'll give you something you never knew you'd feel
The only thing is everything is real
Tonight, tonight, tonight
Just call me the roller
I'll squeeze and unfold you
Call me the roller
I just go to show you
The roller, the roller, the roller, the roller
The roller, the roller, the roller, the roller
The roller, the roller, the roller, the roller
The roller, the roller
But I'll commend you today

Only John Lennon can be John Lennon.

I chose sucko-barfo before I even heard the song, Gallagher is annoying, shame for his band mates.
Instant Karma's gonna get him.....
Oh dear, he really does believe he's John Lennon, doesn't he?
Trouble is, Lennon was intelligent and often charming, which bonehead isn't.
So yeah, just a poor photocopy.

Again...the crappy artwork is really something. Must be a trend of the millennium. Gallagher...ugh. Oh well.

Third rate John Lennon soundalike. It sounds to me more like a Rutles parody than an original song.

Influence isn't plagiarism, and IMO Gallagher sings a f*ck of a sight better than Lennon ever did - I'll take Oasis and the Gallaghers above any of Lennon's stuff every day of the week.
WTF is it about folk on here complaining about 'ripoffs'? After thousands of years of music-making every song is derivative of something and there is nothing original. The Beatles themselves 'ripped off' scads of predecessor and contemporary artists. Big feckin' deal.
Agreed. ..Love Ol' John L, big time in fact...but he borrowed a bit from Dylan (by his own admission.."Hide Your Love" away comes to mind ) , do we condemn him for it? Not likely !
Oasis wrote some great pop tunes, yeah there was a Beatles influence, so what? Bring it on I say and get over it..

Personally I think there is a difference between a song being derivative and a performance sounding like an imitation of another artist. If I had been in the control room when Noel Gallagher sang this song I would have said to him "Noel, mate, that sounds just TOO close to John Lennon. Can you try singing it again, but this time make it sound more like yourself?".
I know that he would probably have punched me in the face for cheek (particularly for calling him mate when he doesn't know me from Adam) but I would have felt better...
Completely agree with your logic on this one mate and my old pal Fred is off his bean on Lennon — Both Noel (who by the way is not involved in this record dude) and Liam worship at the altar of John & Paul & George and would never have considered themselves "better than" John

Yes, it is a problem, when the result is blatant plagiarism. Dude need to get his own sound instead of shamelessly rippin' off John, IMO.

My first thought was "this sounds so much like a band trying to sound like the Beatles that it must be Oasis"... I'm glad to see it's just one of the guys from Oasis trying to sound like Oasis for a change.
It's not good. But I can't really say that it's bad either. Just not good.

The problem is that the work of the brother Gallagher isn't any good! If I wanted a competent rip-off of J.L. I'd listen to Steelers Wheel or Julian Lennon, or any band devoid of one of the Gallaghers.

Liam Gallagher, not Noel
Oh, it's that prick Noel Gallagher.

If for no other reason this song reminds me of J.L. and that can't be bad.

This is better than a lot of the later-period Oasis material. Keep it in the playlist, Bill!

Lazy and boring.
Noooo....
I guess he was going to re-appear somewhere. Unfortunately it still had to be in music.
Probably my first negative comment here, ever. Forgive me, I just had to vent.

I heard BDI when he first said the name. I wonder if that's what you're sposed to hear. Maybe we can think of a good meaning for that — Bananas Don't Intimidate. That's probably what they were thinking of.
Or how about Beatles Demand Imitation...
Now seriously. The new band name thing and initial whu? made me think.
If this was a brand new band and wasn't basically the Oasis vocalist and much of that well established - yeah we know they are heavily Beatle influenced - band, what would we think of this tune and its more than obvious appropriation of Lennon style, both vocally and musically? Just asking.

I thought it was Julian Lennon.

Yeah, I thought it might be some lost John Lennon track when I heard it today. I actually had to check.

Not sure I like the combination.
I think it's the use of reverb that evokes Lennon. According to Geoff Emerick, John hated his singing voice, and was always looking for ways to distort it or change its timbre. Hard to imagine now, but we're our own worst critics.

I see I'm not the only one that thinks this is John Lennon-ish. I like it so far....
Too eerily like John Lennon, perhaps. But a kickin' nonetheless. Not too bad 'atall.
the whole album is great!!! no fillers! awesome vibe! love'em!!!

I missed what Bill said about this but the voice is unmistable. I give it a seven for now. The Gallagher bros can do no wrong in my book.

I thought this sounded like Liam Gallagher! Was wondering what he and his pals would get up to.
I'm glad they had the decency to not continue the name without the chief songwriter (like Pink Floyd post Waters for example)
Instant Karmic beat and structure - sounds like a serviceable tune.
