[Jr. gong:]
Greetings to the world.
[Joss Stone:]
Oh what's the first enchanted tear.
Crystal drop? little ra-ain
Then along came.. your face and.
I'll never be the same again.
Now you're a steak knife in the back.
Selfish cause, complica-ate.
This labyrinth, the world we make, is one to be reckoned with.
It's a sound that I contain.
No. one breathes. their faame
Their lines.. me.. so in a bank?
Lets search for some common ground.
[Jr. Gong:]

And girl and ride.
Run away
The peace so astound that the love you found.
While searching for common ground.
[Joss stone, chorus:]
Everybody come together hear this sound.
Open up your ears look at what we found.
Common ground
So gather round.
Don't matter if your white, yellow, green or brown
Every boy and every girl and in every town.
Gather round
There's common ground.
[Mick Jagger:]
There was a calvary.
Down in new orleans.
And when the band would play.
Their feet went flying.
And underneath the ponds.
Bodies were swaying.
And in each other's arms.
Lovers were prayin.
You may the one for me.
Love is all around.
But what I've found I've been lookin for.
Searching for common ground.

Joss Stone is a wonderful singer. She shines a light in all that she does and this is no exception.
I like this. Totally off the cuff!
Bill. You play some strange music sometimes. Thanks !!
What a mess. A piece of musical garbage. Sounds like a bad TV jingle - music to sell cheap beer - everyone's dancing to this trash in a cantina with a can in their hand.

Giving it a nine to spite the haters
Mick's vocal seems out of place here, like he wandered into the studio when no one was at the mike
I normally rate stuff like this a 3 or 4.
but this song has something to it that i can't explain.
i might change my mind later but this is a 7.

So, many people asking why all the hate for this song...well let's just say I opened my web browser to see what sort of dreck had infected RP...it actively made me look to rate it a 1...not a passive dislike, but an active "ew, that's not good"...so not hate, just a good motivator to rate it as badly as it sounds...

From the fist time I heard this song it pissed me off. Don't know why. I love all the band members. Nails on a chalk board. It is the only song on Rp that I turn off as soon as it comes on. I have even suffered through it many times thinking there must be something redeeming about it. Well no there isn't for me. Hell I even like "Frontier Psychiatrist"......a lot. If you are a regular I am sure there are songs you had to grow in to. Not this one. Glad you like it. I will continue to turn it off. Don't like skipping songs.

I can't figure out why there is so much hate for such a really good tune. Is it just a case of "Let's hate the (actually quite amazing) artists for doing something out of my comfort zone" or what. This is a good album, a good song and a good time... you guys need to get out of your little ruts. This is good music

Joss Stone
Thought at first the vocals were Ani DiFranco. Now that would really be something--Ani and Mick in the same song.
Great segue from Monk's Criss-Cross.
I hear Joss Stone's voice!

Sweep first,then mop.
Slow down, there's a cop.
From the sky, things drop.
Fizz, fizz, plop, plop.
Move now, don't stop.
Who's got the green crop?
So....do I get a record deal and sing with Mick? I think my rappin lyrics are mighty good.
And I can always add, mutha$%^& and hoe, hoe, hoe a few dozen times, so I gots street cred.

This is a great song, open up your ears so it can be found.
I can understand mates getting together for a jam and a laugh, but I wouldn't want the public to listen to my nonsense noises, let alone publish them for all to criticize.
I think with all the many possible unknown and up and coming artists out there looking for a break, maybe we could add one of them to the playlist instead of playing a tune by Jagger who hardly needs more exposure. I think the bar should be set a little higher for him.
This sounds great...didn't realize it was Jagger until part way through and starting listening more closely and dancing to it.

If I win the lottery, I am going to send RP a huge contribution with the single condition that they observe a one-week hiatus from all reggae, ska, and knockoffs thereof.

Completely missed that song, even though it was playing in my headphones.
I equate that to instantly forgettable.
I had a vague feeling that I may be listening to gogol Bordello but that's about it.
five is about right.

Somebody earns far too much and is starting to believe it all....
Please confirm my educated suspicion: it's the same dude who sang Paint it Black and Ruby Tuesday etc et al? Just curious.
Sparkling!
Well ... I like it. Kind of a lot, even.
I like it! yes, it’s’ pop-y', but it’s fun and good to dance to!
Don't think I've ever seen a 5 rating on RP. I have to say I spaced out and didn't listen.
More amazing every time I hear it. They all found some fine "common ground" musically.
This is just fun to listen to.
Well, that sucked.
Awful......
WTF? PSD.
I guess I heard it for the first time just now. Seems good to me. I'll be listening for it again to see if it holds up.
I don't understand why people hate this song.
I'm digging it, and I think it's time to go find the album.

terrible song!

I think it's a pretty safe bet.

Mick, retire and ride off in the sunset already. You're beginning to look and sound a fool.
I hear the Stones are auditioning violinist for next tour so they include this in the set list
Where's the PSD button? I've never used it before.

The average rating of 5 is probably right. This song is neither as bad as one extreme here says nor is it as good as some feel. Definitely not a timeless song.

Hard to believe just how bad this band is, what with all the pre-release publicity?
5 is possibly one of the lowest rating on RP.
Not fair, I tell you.
Mick alone is good for 7 - Enaudi on piano for another 1 or 2!

Nice, I am becoming fonder of what I first thought was "Super-group tripe".

This is absolutely super terrible
Enjoying the tune and the debate. Characteristically (but not compulsorily) stateside stereotyping and other(un)wise pidginhowling aboundeth, bless 'em. Can blue men play the whites indeed.
uttterly horrific...

Nothing wrong with this. I have always liked Joss Stone's pipes and this is a fun vehicle for her.
