What good is music
What good is melody
If it aint possessing something sweet

It aint the music
It aint the melody
Theres something else that makes that tune complete

It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing
Doo-wab-di-wab doo-wab-di-wab doo-wab-di-wab doo-wab-di-wah

It don't mean a thing, all you gotta do is sing
Doo-wab-di-wab doo-wab-di-wab doo-wab-di-wab doo-wab-di-wah

Makes no difference if its sweet or hard
You just give that rhythm everything you got

It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing
Doo-wab-di-wab doo-wab-di-wab doo-wab-di-wab doo-wab-di-wah

Makes no difference if its sweet or hard
You just give that rhythm everything you got

It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing
Doo-wab-di-wab doo-wab-di-wab doo-wab-di-wab doo-wab-di-wah

It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing

The farting noise does take something away from this

Think that noise is more of
a duck quack or frog croak sound.

Butt I can hear your farting         sound too

Thanks to Glad Handi-Wrap for co-opting this song in the 1980s/1990s.  {#Wall}
With Iggy Pop no less.

Excellent! Joe even dug up Django and Stephane to run a few riffs toward the end...

TOTALLY COOL!!
EXCELLENT!  I never heard JJ's  version of this tune before.  Thanx RP!
I really like this tune, but I had to laugh at the person farting at the end.
Makes me want to go back and listen to the album "Jumpin' Jive" again. He was ahead of his in the 80s...
Another album to add to the shopping list. Dr. John's "Duke Elegant" album is highly recommended.

LLRP
Somewhere there is another recording of this by Jackson. I much prefer the other version.
This is so Joe Jackson. What's not to like about it?
Saw Jackson and band kick off "The Duke" tour a couple of years ago. Lively and very interesting. Some of the live arrangements were, um, works in progress, but every tour has to start somewhere, eh? I think it's very cool that an old "angry young man" like Jackson can embrace the Duke with class and imagination.
As good as anything that came out of Le Hot Club in Paris during the 30s before the war.
Excellent! Joe even dug up Django and Stephane to run a few riffs toward the end...
I like and admire Joe Jackson's talent very much, seen him a few times in concert. But this is sucko-barfo.

I wish RP had that Pandora feature of skipping a song that you just do not want to hear. It would keep me from going to Pandora when song's like this come on.

PSD (at the top of the page) means "Play Something Different". It works with the built-in player on our site, but not an external player like iTunes or Winamp.

  • this would be the Second Swing album from Joe. Back in the 80's or so he got sick, and spent some time listening to Louis Jordan and made a swing album well befor the swing thing happened with Big Bad VooDoo Daddy et al.
Joe was ahead of the curve with New Wave and was with swing.

Joe is amazing!!!!! Love this!

This is a different Joe Jackson, right? Not the "Steppin' Out" one, I hope. And that was Iggy? Lawdy! Say it ain't so!

Yes, the "Steppin' Out" one.

It's like Joe's "Jumpin' Jive" album in the early 80's.  I dug that album.  Play 5 Guys named Moe from that!

The album was released a few days ago. Not your father's Joe Jackson to be sure.

OK I guess, but the drummer is definitively not Buddy Rich or Gene Krupa.
Bleck — this sounds like a crappy meldly version from some suburban high school..
First play! Woo Hoo!

Recognize that deep voice? Yeah, that's Iggy...
My upload! Added to the library without going to the LRC.

Thanks B & R!
