Am I the one to praise?

Collide with faces veiled in paper
Reading line by line the pain there
But for the grace of code and capital
We'd cry out side by side

So why am I the one to praise?

Calculate the Ponzi pension to avoid
Unintended consequences of a choice
Now am I so confident I am the one
Earning every pretty sum and deserving every toy
Am I selling broken bonds or innovation?
Someone's yelling get a job out of a Lincoln
But the human microphone will find a voice
And a change is gonna come, said the signal
To the –

Remind me in my western chamber
What this plan's designed to save here
I haven't come to say I'm sorry
But I swear I'm on your side

Oh I am not the one who preys

Betting on the best semesters you can buy
Digging out of debt, sequestered, unemployed
Underwater empty nesters in a slum
Television for the bums, helicopter for the boys
Marketplace of multi-culti competition
Building out the fossil fracking operation
Careful of a bird blacker than a swan
'cause a change is gonna come, said the signal
To the noise

Were you never in the 99?
You are ever in the 99
We are ever in the 99
We are ever in the 99

Am I the one to praise?

Collide with faces veiled in paper
Reading line by line the pain there
I haven't come to say I'm sorry
But I swear I'm on your side

We are ever in the 99

The Democratic presidential debate in Detroit starts in less than 30 minutes. Coincidence, Bill?

Is that your way of sharing it's not your cup of tea?
ARRGGHH....love her earlier stuff. This...not so much {#Grumpy}
{#Daisy} {#Dancingbanana_2}
It's sounds like an experimental foray into electronic music without the experience or know-how.....it just does not work.
...PSD not working today...aarrgghh
Haim rip-off
I think this CD has a lot of potential.  Added to Q.  Interesting to note that this album is only available in MP3 and not CD.

I'm waiting for the acoustic version.

a couple of her other songs on this same album are so much better.

And so much of it!

Way over-produced to my taste. She has a good voice, why bury it like you'd do for the latest Disney pop-tart?

I will second that. It is actually very close to the Lion King theme and/or some disco standards.

PSD
Good song. But I'm confused how this is on the playlist, yet Janet Jackson is nowhere to be found (similar sounding songs to me anyway).

I agree with ckcotton - miserable, very miserable. No passion, no energy, only fast spoken words. Where is Vienna's piano from other CDs?
Like the depth among the bounce.
"Digging out of debt, sequestered, unemployed

More produced than her earlier stuff resulting in a more pop music sound....but certainly not your typical pop song lyrics..
Miserable

...funny, i was just thinking of basement jaxx as this one was playing:  curious that bill's head goes in the same direction...

Who is her producer? Kudos.
First listen, it's different, I like it.
It's a Britney Spears pop song.  As Britney Spears pop songs go, it's actually not all that bad, but--Britney, put the microphone down and keep your hands where I can see them  How did you get in to this Vienna Teng album, and what have you done with Vienna?
...interesting one to hear from vienna teng; seamless transition into stone roses...
