I was scared of dentists and the dark
I was scared of pretty girls and starting conversations
Oh, all my friends are turning green
You're the magician's assistant in their dreams

Oh, and they come unstuck

Lady, running down to the riptide
Taken away to the dark side
I wanna be your left hand man
I love you when you're singing that song and
I got a lump in my throat cause
You're gonna sing the words wrong

There's this movie that I think you'll like
This guy decides to quit his job and heads to New York City
This cowboy's running from himself
And she's been living on the highest shelf

Oh, and they come unstuck

Lady, running down to the riptide
Taken away to the dark side
I wanna be your left hand man
I love you when you're singing that song and
I got a lump in my throat cause
You're gonna sing the words wrong

I just wanna, I just wanna know
If you're gonna, if you're gonna stay
I just gotta, I just gotta know
I can't have it, I can't have it any other way
I swear she's destined for the screen
Closest thing to Michelle Pfeiffer that you've ever seen, oh

Lady, running down to the riptide
Taken away to the dark side
I wanna be your left hand man
I love you when you're singing that song and
I got a lump in my throat cause
You're gonna sing the words wrong

Oh lady, running down to the riptide
Taken away to the dark side
I wanna be your left hand man
I love you when you're singing that song and
I got a lump in my throat cause
You're gonna sing the words wrong

Oh lady, running down to the riptide
Taken away to the dark side
I wanna be your left hand man
I love you when you're singing that song and
I got a lump in my throat cause
You're gonna sing the words wrong
Yet, I got a lump in my throat cause you're gonna sing the words wrong

Giving it a 3.  Don't know if its because I don't like the song or if its because I can't turn on the radio without hearing it.  This is the Toyota Camry of songs.

I drive a Toyota Riptide. Im not sure what that says about me.

Do you categorise all music according to attributes that have absolutely nothing to do with the actual, you know, music?  Quite apart from anything else, the published picture shows no beard, suspenders or trilby.

I like the cover the kid did on The Voice South Africa.

A decent enough song decimated utterly by heavy rotation. Loathe this form of corporate torture.

To me it has been bad since first hearing... RP doesn't play it very often but I still don't like the song, the "wolf-like"  "awwwooo" gets on my nerves.
Am I the only one who is hearing a resemblance to Supertramp's Lady?
 No, Robert Plant's godson.

I love the video for this. Is it my imagination or is it a spoof?

Monotonous 5 note song.

It's always the image I have in my head when this plays.

Easy solution. . . don't visit, watch or read any commercial radio or tv. . . or magazines. . . or newspapers. Ignore all street advertising. Avoid chain stores.

The result will be a much happier you.
hmm, a Michelle Pfeiffer mention here. And then Bruno Mars mentions her in his 2014 hit that shall remain unnamed.
Any other mentions of her in other songs?

agree on the Xavier Rudd comp.
A little Adam Sandlerish.
Sounds like everybody in 2015 has to play ukulele to be hip, but it sounds cool on this guy.

Not a bad guess.

He's actually got a decent catalog... many better songs than this one. Mediocre and bland at best... 5

Massive, almost constant rotation on the two stations I like where I live.  Good song though. 8

I got caught in a riptide once.  Those things are no joke.

Hey. Another band that sounds like Mumford and Sons. *yawn*
 a nice sound from a local guy - go Vance Joy   {#Yell}
Hey is this getting annoying or what?
It's not often that i find myself downgrading songs...
Sounds slightly like Arcade Fire except for the the chorus part.
First time I heard it - I like it so far.
Seriously?  Every day?
Again? Already?
This one is on the radio a lot right now where I live... not that it is inherently bad. I like the michelle pfeiffer line.
