To the news that was ripe with disease,
It's a sickness to say what they please,
As the sycophants tire of their worthless wind,

And realize their plot's far too thin,
As they vie for the right side of an aisle,
With the black and white thoughts of a child

Saying,
She merely is,
And he must become,
They're wasting our time,
Talking off their tongues

And seen on a screen,
Our life as we know,
It's cool as it comes,
And feels ten below

Couldn't find the forest for the trees,
To the heart of the matter i mean,
As we bruise with the thinnest type of skin,
Do their pictures or words do us in?
As they vie for right side of an aisle,
With the black and white thoughts of a child

Saying,
She merely is,
And he must become,
They're wasting our time,
Talking off their tongues

And seen on a screen,
Our life as we know,
It's cool as it comes,
And feels ten below

Couldn't find the forest for the trees,
To the heart of the matter i mean,
It's the deepest and darkest of seas,
It's the distance between you and me

It's cool as it comes and feels ten below

It's the news that was ripe with disease,
It's a sickness to say what they please,
It's the deepest and darkest of seas,
It's the distance between you and me.

Tracy Chapman joined a band?
someone mentioned sounding like Natalie Merchant's brother. My first thought was a male version of her. Great song.

Interersting. I was hearing a bit of Mickey Dolenz from the Monkees...
Thought this was Whitney. This is good for the soul.
I really like this song ... it has excellent dynamics.  I get the comparison to Natalie Merchant, another artist I enjoy very much.

This sounds like Jesse Colin Young to me.  I miss his voice.  So a new band (for me) to love!  Just upped this up from an 8 to a 9.  I have a feeling it is going to be a 10 for me before too long!
Good tune!
no, just no............one Tracy Chapman is quite enough
Just checked the RP website to see if this was a Tracy Chapman song!  Nice.

Yes!  One of my favorites, haven't enjoyed an Island Scotch in awhile, went through an Islay phase recently after wearing out the Highlands....and another reason I want to visit the UK again, and maybe this time I'll skip London all together and head straight to Scotland & Ireland....thanks for the reminder....Long Live RP!!

Just visited Islay for their jazz festival  … but I don't like those peaty whiskeys.

Scottish Willie, you have named four of my faves!
A Mike Tyson punch of peat!
And the less peaty Islay, Bunnahabhain is pretty tasty too!

I think it's hilarious when the Wikipedia can't pick the correct article for an artist on the site...  bonus link to the Marx Brothers movie Horse Feathers.  [EDIT - and I just noticed someone else had the some comment earlier...  always late to the party am i...]

I am a fan of single malt Scotch; most of what I drink has been aged LONGER than my daughter (17 y/o) has been alive.  So yeah, I'm all for taking time to enjoy, think, mull, whatever, and KUDOS to the KUDOS giver!

LONG LIVE RP!

This is a prime example of what has got to be my favorite thing about RP (outside of the streaming music) which is the comments/conversations between us RPsters.  While some of the songs' comments are vapid, or worse, no more than an attempt at trolling, I find a lot of reflection and feedback mixed in with the sophomoric "this is played too much" or "I HATE this" comments.

Case in point, fatcatjb (from just outside of Paradise in good ol SacTown) maturely suggested he'd wait a while before rating this track, assuming he was in the minority in not liking it based on others' comments, and then ScottishWillie (from Scotland no doubt; 5000 miles away!) so elegantly pointed out how cool (and becoming more rare by the year) it is that fatcatjb would actually PAUSE before doing something.  It's an amazing concept this "taking ones time" approach, and I am so glad to see evidence that others, like me, appreciate patience and such.  As an example, I am a fan of single malt Scotch; most of what I drink has been aged LONGER than my daughter (17 y/o) has been alive.  So yeah, I'm all for taking time to enjoy, think, mull, whatever, and KUDOS to the KUDOS giver!

Nicely put, I am not sure about this, but it isn't making me want to change it.

I hear what you mean, but when the song starts the singer always makes me think of Mickey Dolenz from The Monkees...
I am enjoying the new (beta) player: it pulls Wikipedia articles for a band that's currently playing, but it does not always do an accurate job. For "Horse Feathers" it pulled an article about the 1932 "Horse Feathers" movie , starring The Marx Brothers. I had so much fun reading about the movie plot, now I definitely want to look up that movie and watch it.

Yes, my writing and the Wikipedia article are unrelated to the band AND music being played; but just like RP often make me research an artist, or put me in the mood to check out the lyrics - this time RP inspired me to do something else.

B&R, thank you for all the inspiration!
Really funny wrong wikipedia link...
{#Bananajam} Bass makes this tune for me. {#Clap}
Came here bc major deja vu...comments did not disappoint {#Roflol}

What Mr. king said.

hey Bill, there's an idea how about some Youngbloods after this
Just based on the bass riffs, I'll post a 7 for this.

{#Roflol} So true ...

hmmm yeah, no, this sounds like the group made the cover art first (after some spliff tokes) and composed the tunes while doodling away with old magic markers found under sofa

Created an account to listen to great music, mute when I want, and read the occasional gene pool comment.  Thanks for the entertainment.

Fine.  But 'redneck' works better for the pasty-faced folks in rural Canada.  {#Cheesygrin}  We like to import your colourful imagery.
So, is Portland, Oregon a hotbed of musical creativity?

Nice refrain hook, BTW.

I keep hearing hints of a slightly muted Micky Dolenz...yes, of The Monkees.

So you went through the trouble to create a login just so that you could state that.  Well, get this.  Bill and Rebecca play what they want to play.  The rest of us stick around because we want them to play what they want to. The door is that way —————>

Maybe it's a sin to ask about the missing link in defense & offense chain.
                              Is this a propaganda too?
Are you some kind of hypnotist?
                    Because newscast is pretty realtime.
                      I'm apolitical isn't a stance I know.

Is this a cover , swear I have heard this from another band?

Still enjoy it,,

Its that old Deja vu thing

Hard to know how to respond - if you find yourself on a topless beach do you ask everyone to cover up? You are scared and disoriented but relax, try peeling a few layers and feel the indie sun.
Quite enjoying the set meself. National, Be good T's, Damon A and now the HF's

Just what this steenking hot day needs.
Oh wait, it's getting better yet. Never really liked this but today Sugaree is the Feline's Pjs.

Logged in just to say that there is an ideal amount of indie on RP.  Thank you.
Interesting band a solid 7 from me.

I guess it depends on one's definition of "indie", but I don't think there's enough here.  Opinions vary, obviously, but I didn't create an account to state that.  Look for a classic rock station; there must be a lot of them.
