I know that it’s been rough,
It shows in your reflection,
You’ve fallen out of touch,
Got lost along the way,
I know it’s not enough,
But these things they all get better,
And even if its tough,

This is us, you know it on the inside,
This is us, so you should show it on the outside,
This is us, dust the dust up off your shoulders,
Feet on ground, you’ll come round,
And be human again.

I know that its been hard,
But even when its hurting,
You’re gonna have to start,
To learn to recognise,
That even in the dark,
Theres lines between the spaces,
Hiding where you are,

This is us, you know it on the inside,
This is us, so you should show it on the outside,
This is us, dust the dust up off your shoulders,
Feet on ground, you’ll come round,
And be human again.

I am sitting here reviewing a manufacturing deficiency report on elongated crew door fitting holes for C-130 aircraft and I am suddenly snapped out of my analysis by this song. I LOVE IT WHEN THAT HAPPENS! It is some form of musical Tourette Syndrome, where you can't stop yourself from looking to see who it is playing because the music is so captivating. That always get an automatic 8 from me!

oh, me too…
amen
Serious London Grammar effect but more laid back.
And this is how grateful I am for Radio Paradise😍🙏

Trivia: the photo on the album cover shows an acoustic locator, which was basically a large parabolic dish used to detect approaching aircraft before radar was invented. A microphone or an actual person had to stand in the focal point of the parabola. If you look on Wikipedia or Google Images, you'll find some pretty wacky designs for these things.

I came to the comments hoping I would find this bit of info and it was so.

These guys may just be my next Younger Brother, PT, Alt-J or Elbow... I love RP.

A bit of Zola blood in there as well...
Listen carefully and you can hear the roots of Sam Smith. yup its in there.
love this song . . .
the song evokes a lot of emotion.
Vocals sound a lot like the voice of young band from CT called goose, they are absolutely blowing up the jam band scene.

It might be the one at Abbot's Cliff, between Folkestone and Dover.
There are some other pictures here - one showing the back of the "sound mirror" with a small tree growing in it.
thought it was Harry Styles

Just the same here, but instead I was sorting my socks. 🤤
Growing, growing. Still a strong 8 here.
Thanks Bill.

Just heard a shout-out to this comment on a recorded stream and it got a good laugh out of me since I was staring intently at results from Postgres and I did the same thing (paused and listened to the track.) Kudos to you, and keep up the good work, nerd-friend.

As a former C-130 crew member, GET BACK TO WORK! Heh...
This is very nice!
RP keeps giving the good stuff!
Reminded me a bit of the nice track Two Hearts - Zola Blood that I also discovered here on RP.
Also reminds me of the great album Eyes Closed from HAEVN.
What a great photo/album cover. Love it.
The chorus starts - "This is Us"
Maybe NBC should use it as a them for their TV show by the same name.
Haven't watched the show myself - maybe it is already being used.

100% agree. Saw these guys in Portland, Oregon a couple years ago. Such young guys with such great talent for great music. Sure it is mellow, but that's part of its beauty.

I love a song where I think the lead singer is female. Much like Dan Tyminski backing up Alison Krauss.

For me, just now, it was calculating and awarding Credit for Acquired Proficiency in Foreign Languages at Illinois State University. Not a safety issue tho
Indeed!! Though I was not reviewing anything as complex :)   scott_bruce wrote:

Just dig it..

Would be improved with a tad more pace

I liked this INSTANTLY, a LOT!  Something about it hits me just right.{#Bounce}
Eerie and cold, a bit production-heavy but very cool
Sounds like a male Florence.
Fits in my rotation!

This certainly grabbed my attention as NJ says pleasant phrasing and the voice is full of emotion. Reminds me of some other band but cant quite put my finger on them. All in all a very pleasing track and well presented which makes me wonder what the rest of the Album is like.

Lion.
I really thought that this was London Grammar, as the woman's contralto and phrasing is similar to Hannah Reid's. On further listening, though, this lot are distinctively different, though no less sweet on the external auditory meatus (pace Lazarus). 8 from the swept away Nottingham jury.
Thought this was London Grammar at first.
