Waiting to hear the water sing
I sit down beside her,
Trying to hear the quiet ring
The leaves break the falling of the sunlight that covers these banks
I've seen the water running, I've seen the color wash away
I come to the river
Heavy and tired to the bone
I lay down beside her
Grave as a slowly sinking stone
I see clear to the bottom, I watch how the shadows play
I've seen the water falling, I've seen the colors bleed away
The light turns silver,
Draining the hours from the day
The weight of the water pulls at the branches along the banks
And it tears at the fallen and it carries the broken on it's way
I've seen the water rolling, I've seen the colors fade away
I've seen the water rolling, I've seen the colors fade away
Why are my eyes tearing up?
Sheer acoustic bliss. My goosebumps have got goosebumps

Allergies

Interesting that you mention that ... same thing here. This song gives me the feeling that I had when I was heading to college... suddenly had the realization as I looked out on the farm where I grew up, chances were that farm was never going to be my permanant home ever again....
I just got out of a very cold river, after a bit of fly fishing. Ice on the shore the water was low and clear. Shining like quicksilver when the sun was reflected on the current. In font of the fire to warm my cold legs and a glass of Shiraz and I turned on RP to this song, a peaceful coda to a nice afternoon. Thank you RP. 😎😀
Your words painted a beautiful picture, a scenario to share vicariously! Thank you for that.
Stopped me dead in my tracks.
Where is this river?
Maybe is Styx....
But having said that, if you like this kind of singing, it must be a diamond song, because it is very well done.
Superb.
I remember my delight in discovering Eastmountainsouth (probably here) and my disappointment that they only produced one album. And thus was delighted again when I found out that Peter Bradley Adams followed up with Down Like Silver which has very much the same vibe. Such great music.
I loved that Eastmountainsouth album as well. I didn't realize this was the same guy, but love this as well and hope to hear more.
This is the river you lay down by as you are dying. It will carry you to the sea.
nothing seems right after this. Everything stops. The music stops.
so beautiful it hurts
I agree, except I'd say everything seems right. Time moves on like the river. We are born and we die in due time.
It's almost hypnotic; very nice. I would also like to know where this river is.

— Down Like Silver, To the River
Gorgeous song. I believe this river is time. Maybe just an oft-used metaphor.
Yes, stops me in my tracks too. One of a handful of songs that always does.
anyway you can add this plus-plus... the Artists profile ~? ⤵️

I'll have some of what you're on.
NICE.
And a well-placed drone. Very effective indeed.

Hmmm...
He's the male half of the duo. No Wiki page for Down Like Silver.
And the other half, Caitlyn Canty

He's one half of this duo.
This music calls to mind East Mountain South back in the early 2000s.

Someone mentioned it earlier in the thread; it's the same male vocalist: Peter Bradley Adams.
Awesome show.

Damn, this song is almost too beautiful, if there can be such a thing.

Where is this river?
That is exactly who I thought it was
Thanks to RP for introducing me to DLS / Caitlin Canty.
No wonder DLS reminded me of Eastmountainsouth—same male vocalist
My thought exactly. I though it was such a shame that Eastmountainsouth only had one album. I'll have to see if DLS is a good substitute.
