No time to be wayward
No time to be unwound
With darkness at your doorstep
Keep your feet on the ground
There will be times of injustice
Times when there's more lost than found
Down times mixed with days of wonder
A real-life spinning merry-go-round
With this back against the wall
All will soon be revealed
Sirens sound and spirits fall
With just this back against this wall
The signs will serve as your guide
Above the water with it held high
May you always go the distance
Through the darkness and the light
All the signs say pick up the pieces
All the signs say make a stand as one
What survives the long cold winter
Will be stronger and can't be undone
With this back against the wall
All will soon be revealed
Sirens sound and spirits fall
With just this back against this wall

What he said. Listen up to the tune, RP listeners. That's some fine consciousness raising music.
5.5 rating? A bunch of folks here are remiss and need an upgrade.

5.6. ? A very incremental change from 5.5 since the last time I heard this on RP. What is suppressing the number for a passionate, timely song? Too preachy? So, listen up to the lyrics. Simple music? Well, so are half the songs in this genre. I myself really sync up with songs of a certain social consciousness raising or inspirational form, and this is one of them. Not many of you, it would seem....

In these days and times with such mentally challenged mooks in the navigation chairs, I'm bumping this from 7 to 8. Sing it, brother, don't be shy...

Yeah, they sure sound like the Son Volt from years ago. Weirdly good.
Hey, very listenable tune. It'll grow on me.
Uh oh...another midwest reference. Son Volt, the second spin-off band form Uncle Tupelo, who was from Belleville, IL (across the river from STL).
Sounds like something they might have done long ago... Lo, and behold, it's from their newest effort! I think it's a good indicator for 'em
I saw Uncle Tupelo while in college (yep, dates me....) and it's great to see that Jay Farrar is still at it.

What he said. Of all the low-ly rated tracks here on RP, this imho is one of the best and a favorite. A 5.6? Some folks here are tone deaf.
