She saw the look in his eyes, 'n' she knew better
He wanted her tonight, ah, and it was now or never
He made her feel so sad
Oh, whoa, whoa, Jamie's cryin'
Oh, whoa, whoa, Jamie's cryin'
Now Jamie wouldn't say, "All right", ah, she knew he'd forget her
'N' so they said goodnight, ah, oh, 'n' now he's gone forever
She want's to send him a letter, uh yeah yeah
Uh just to try to make herself feel better
It said "Gimme (gimme a call sometime")
But she knows what that'll get her
Oh, whoa, whoa, Jamie's cryin'
Oh, whoa, whoa, Jamie's cryin'
Now Jamie's been in love before (ahhh)
And she knows what love is for (ahhh)
It should mean, a little, a little more (ahhh)
Than one night stands, whoo
She want's to send him a letter, uh yeah yeah
Just to try to make herself feel better
It said "Gimme (gimme a call sometime")
But she knows what that'll get her
Oh, whoa, whoa, Jamie's cryin'
Oh, whoa, whoa, Jamie's cryin'
[Repeat til outro]

I love the way Eddie grinds his axe in this tune. Classic VH.
Have to play loud!
Oh no, here comes the tinnitus again.

Knocking this one up to nine tonight. It still rocks all these years later.
Let's not be sad that Eddie Van Halen is gone. Let's be glad he was here, and did all the jaw-droppingly great guitar work that he did.
(Alright. Let's be a little sad he's gone. I sure am.)

Van Halen makes me cryin' since 1980! i still have this hold tape and no player....
Overplayed big time, when it came out! Much better NOW in FLAC w/ great phones, amp & DAC! Thank You RP!
I can never forget that one day in early summer of '78 that my buddy Mike and I came right home from the record store and slapped this on my dad's new hi-fi. Oh, and, YEAH, WE FRICKIN' CRANKED IT! My mother wasn't too pleased. "I could hear it from the car, my Lord, honey -- way out in the driveway!" or maybe something about Running With the Devil just offended her sensibility. By the time my dad came home, this song had come on. After, he sauntered past to tell Mike and I, "Hey, that song, Jamie's Cryin', not too bad -- I kinda like it," and he actually hummed and sang a bit of it as he lit a stupid cigarette and stepped onto the porch to smoke it. I hate to say it, but I have to admit, within a year, I had my job at Emi's, and my thirsty '70 Cutlass, and my own life, and my father was almost never close to being nice to me again. In fact, he was very antagonistic and mean. But that was a cool moment, and I'll always be grateful... Thanks, Eddie Van Halen and Co., and all praise to Radio Paradise forever!
very good Song from a very good Band...so damn good
This and Fair Warning are my favs.
I like some VH. Liked them with Red Rocker better. Roth can’t sing his way out of a paper bag.
Great first album. Imagine seeing them doing this at Whiskey a Go Go the year before this album was released.
breaks in this used in young mc bust a move and tone loc funky cold medina
Late 70's - early 80's summers as a teenager/young man at the beaches in NC ... Fine memories.

6 days after his death and his wife janie is almost certainly crying; We will all miss him and his craft!!!!!
RIP Eddie.
RIP Eddie.
Eddie was an innovator and one of the all-time greats.
He and Van Halen made hard rock fun.
65 is just way too young; a tragic loss.

I never cared for this kind of rock, as I prefer stuff like the Dead, Allman Bros., Stevie Ray, Doors, Derek Trucks, Flying Burritos, Graham Parsons, Clapton, Young, etc., but on this day of Eddie Van Halen's death, I can sure as hell appreciate his eclectic and unique guitar style and energy! Thanks for the music Eddie!
Rest in peace Eddie. Thank you for all the amazing songs. You will be missed.
Tragic loss yesterday. A huge part of my youth has died. R.I. P. Eddie. Gonna miss that smile.
RIP EVH! You will be missed.
Got to hate this song when it came out, but it's been long enough that I can appreciate it again. Another gone too soon...
Another legend sadly leaves us,RIP Eddie

Once again I am surprised by the playlist from the magical RP programming team.

Back in the day I read a review of Van Halen that said the band's sound was a cross between a New York City street repair crew and a Roman slave galley. Well, maybe not on this song, but yeah.
WOW

80's Metal Classic...I can appreciate Van Halen's guitar more now as an adult

That dude on drums aint to bad either
What an album! All Eddie's rhythm guitar is panned hard right while bass guitar is hard left. Very little guitar layering on this album, which showcases Eddie's remarkably creative rhythm parts. This album, and Eddie's playing arguably caused a sea change in how electric guitar was approached by future guitarists -- something that rarely happens.
