Would you be happier if I cried?
You know I will
You know I will
Would you be happier if I cried?
You know I will
You know I will
I'm not joking anymore
Take every piece
Apart on the kitchen floor
Hold it up to the light
Show me what it's good for
You know the craziest of things
Was that I wanted it
I thought I did
You know, the moment I liked best
Was when you put your hands around my head
But that won't make it easier to stand
And that won't make it right
We're so good at denying everything
What's another night?
But it won't make you happy at all
Would you be happy if I cried sometimes?
You know I
sit in the dark and I try
I try
But I can't make a sound until the morning comes
My head is dumb and my heart is dry
And some things cannot be fixed
And you shall see
Just wrap it up in news prints and just give it back to me
You know
The craziest of things
Was that I wanted it
I thought I did
You know
The moment I liked best
Was when you put your hands around my head
But that won't make it easier to stand
And that won't make it right
We're so good at denying everything
What's another night?
But it won't make you happy at all
You know that I'm paper in your hand
And I'll fold into your shape on command
And you can call out my name
You're callin' my name
You know
The craziest of things
Was that I wanted it
I thought I did
You know
The moment I liked best
Was when you put your hands around my head
But that won't make it easier to stand
And that won't make it right
We're so good at denying everything

This gem is one of so many I found via the YouTube playlist "Modern Noir Songs" by wiremux. So sad that she (?) left YouTube and took down all her wonderful playlists along with it. Thank goodness for all the people that put copies of the playlists back online. Wiremux.... who and where are you? We need you.
This is why I love RP - introducing me to artists I've never heard of before.
not Regina Spektor
There's always room for a well-executed dirge
Kind of heard this before. Not particularly interesting style for me. Opens with a 5 from Napoli on the Gulf.

Or Fiona Apple, or Rachael Yamagta!
My kind of music when I'm in an angst-ridden inner-turmoil frame of mind.
