You don't have to die if you don't wanna die
You can take it all back in the nick of time
Maybe even be a good friend of mine
Baby I
And we won't have to cry if we don't wanna cry
Maybe I got something left in this heart of mine
Awash in the sand on the beach of time
Baby I

You know, you know that time
Can take you for a ride
Can take you by surprise
Maybe you'll roll snake eyes
Baby, tell me why
You gotta play your luck?
Two aces call your bluff
I love you very much
And all that other stuff

Thawing out my heart like meat
I see your track marks poking through your hoodiе sleeve
Tic-tac-toe game to thе destiny
I grieve
Marching towards East River Park
You told me your big secret on the FDR
I couldn't hear you over choppers and the buzzing cars
So far

You know, you know that time
Can take you for a spin
Can really do you in
Can leave you with the bends
Baby, try to live again
And play another hand
Maybe we'll start a band
I wanna understand
Baby, help me understand

'Cause you don't have to die if you don't wanna die
Maybe I got something left that is worth a try
But I'm not gonna be your alibi
This time

loving this song.
She reminds me of Jenny Lewis ?
Took a while for me to warm up to this one, but I'm hooked.

Such a cool name!

Indeed! +1 for a cool band name.
Songs from this album are getting as much love as they deserve. The whole thing is worth falling in love with.
I've just taken the time to read the lyrics to this happy sounding little number.... Phew, painful.  Been somebodies alibi - it's a horrible place to be
Alynda Segarra is brilliant, especially her HFTRR albums (in the vein of Gillian Welch but different), bought the new album the moment it became available.

Well done...easy to listen too!!
Sweet.  Nice tune, and different.  A New York City maybe-love-song with country twang, brought to you by the likes of Kerouac, Dylan 'n Springsteen (at least it does on the first listen and a read through of the lyrics)
Lovely... Masterful... Has that Instant Classic sound -- catchy as hell, a bit familiar and nostalgic, yet pushing some new thrills along my senses at the same time... Has some tasty twangs of Country (but not too much) and such a gorgeous, rich voice. She is on her way! I love the album title, too... As Faulkner said, "The past is not dead. In fact, it's not even past..." Ain't it the truth?!
This album isn't even out yet! I like new music! This actually gets a 7 from me (and it might get more)
They've played the Newport Folk Festival multiple times glad they have something new coming up!!
Such a cool name!
We hear the song before the album is even released. Wow!
This track seems to be a teaser for the album that's out next year. It's worked. I'm teased and looking forward to its release!
