Woman of the country now I've found you
Longing in your soft and fertile delta
And I whisper sighs to satisfy your longing
for the warmth and tender shelter of my body
Oh you're my, yes you're my Delta Lady
Yes, you're my, me oh my, Delta Lady
Please don't ask how many times I found you
Standing wet and naked in the garden
And I think of days and diff'rent ways I held you
Held you closely to me, yes our heart was beating
Oh you're my...
Oh, and I'm over here in England
But I think of you, think about you...
Because I love you,
There are concrete mountains in the city
And pretty city women live inside them
And yet it seems the city scene is lacking
I'm so glad you're waiting for me in the country
Oh you're my...
Longing in your soft and fertile delta
And I whisper sighs to satisfy your longing
for the warmth and tender shelter of my body
Oh you're my, yes you're my Delta Lady
Yes, you're my, me oh my, Delta Lady

Brilliant the combination of Leon Russell with Stranger in a Strange Land and now good old Joe Cocker!
And yes Bill, we are still here!

This cat's catalogue has not aged well. Does not hold a candle to the Magnificent Leon Russell.

Love this. It was a different time then.
In 1970 (IIRC) my best friend's goofy f*ing brother-in-law just disappeared from the face of the earth. Came home early from work one day, gave away his truck and all his carpenter's tools and does a Judge Crater. Somehow he ends up on an lonely road in the Nevada desert hitch-hiking and is picked up by Cocker's Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour bus. This is better than an alien abduction story! He is totally off his rocker at this point, gets adopted by the roadies and finishes the tour working as a roustabout. He wanders back home about 2 years later with his hair down to his belt, acting like nothing happened. It all seemed to be pretty normal, just folded into the cosmic muffin dough of the time...

Love to feel some ol' Leon coming through as I look out over Vieux Lyon, France...

"O U T S T A N D I N G" song from Mr Cocker which is arguably one of his best

Joe Cocker does a wonderful Leon Russell... This is good for the ears today, with the snow falling and the temperature barely above zero. Makes me long for summer and the lush, humid south...
love this classic boogie-woogie blues song... Leon Russell not only wrote this song, Russell also produced and arranged this album for Joe Cocker...
miss you so much, Cynaera...

Romeotuma - this is one of the reasons why you're my friend - you're gracious, even under persecution. Tomorrow is "the end of the world" (insert laughter here) - I want you on my team after everything shakes out.

I like your thinking, but that's an assumption. As of today, there is a "6" and a "7", both from Joe Cocker, but no "8".
According to the song ID this was the ninth song added to the playlist.

try the one on Mad Dogs and Englishmen- best of both worlds as Leon is playing and singing too.
Never liked Joe. As for this one, Leon's is far superior.

Dancing in the kitchen!
You've under-rated this one, my friends!

Yeah, that's how it was, Mister Bear. Probably better that how it is. At least there weren't any cel phones, and credit cards were just a tornado on the horizon. Governments were killing good people then and that's still happening now. -Sigh-.

This was on an endless loop of tracks at a particularly pot riddled party I attended in a farmer's field just after the album was released. Indelibly imprinted on my cortex.
I forgot all about this one, have always loved it!

Leon Russell does a great Joe Cocker too!

My favorite Joe Cocker song, I think. My favorite tune from him used to be "The Letter" but I got sick of that one when it was overplayed to death.
When I sing - in my head, I think I sound like Joe. . . apparently I don't.
Great album.
