Somehow I don't hate this, but I feel like I should.
I think I hate it. Because modern country music is like waterboarding torture for my ears.

Kurt says you should just enjoy the ride...

What would Kurt say about this..
Seems like the words of this song are even more appropriate now than ever. I like to think that Kurt would recognize the value in this version.
This borders on being what they call "country music" today. It's over produced, pop crap, while trying to sound "badass" to reach a defined market segment of Middle America, in which the market research group in a high rise Nashville office wrote the song and dictated to the sound engineer on how the song will sound.
But aw shucks. I wear cowboy boots and speak with alot of "yawlls"...so they makes me authentic. Genuine. Real country. And I always wear a cowboy hat. Outside. Inside. At the dinner table. On the toilet. At church. At funerals.
... It's a cover of a Nirvana song.

Nicely played sir, and I really like the cartoon.
If it wasn't for Bill's "....Large and squishy soft spot for genre bending covers" (his words), Radio Paradise would be just another music streaming site.
Personally, I'm appreciative for it.
Good quote.
Interesting interpretation. Grunge Country?
Going with a 6 rating at first listen.
Yes but sounds like a big brass section for Country.

Covers are an important part of the musical universe. (Think about that next time you hear Beethoven, Hayden, or Mozart.)
This one sounds like a typical C&W tune blasting from a pickup truck's radio outside Jesup, Georgia. Respect to Mr Simpson, but I don't care much for C&W.
No.....
Personally, I'm appreciative for it.
I wish I was more open minded and didn’t hate this cover, but it’s probably unreasonable to expect to get every wish I wish.
I don't hate this cover, but I don't like it that much either. It's better on 2nd listen. 4 to 5. It could grow on me.
Wish I could hear Nirvana cover Sex Bomb :-)
Could not agree with you more!
Somehow I don't hate this, but I feel like I should.
😆😆 yes! I was going to skip and then thought
let's see how this plays out😅
Surprising...
Interesting voice
And nice album cover
The nice part is at least Simpson put enough of a different spin on it to make it original and interesting. This is no Tori Amos Teen Spirit nonsense, which is about the best thing I can say about it. "Acceptable."

I think maybe that's a pedal steel making the casio noises(?) Funny similarity though. :-)
Agree with all the comments. This one stopped me in my tracks. Hardly teen angst, I wonder what Kurt would think?

Lol, my brain caught the lyric before the melody.
Same here, it ran in the background and I wasn't paying attention. During the refrain my brain suddenly started nudging me "listen up, you've heard this before".
Going with a 6 rating at first listen.

Guess I'm the first to comment. It is an interesting cover. I give it a thumbs up, reserving a number for a few subsequent listens.

It’s kind of grunge-less. De-grunged?
Nevertheless, I kinda like it.
