Sturgill is an American Treasure.
I love this take. It's less angsty than the original, but the melancholy replaces that nicely. IMO.
I kept hearing who I thought was Roland Orzabal from Tears for Fears, but it was this guy, which is a compliment coming from me. :)

I growed up near where Sturgil is from and let me tell you they ain't much there besides beautiful lanscape. Not a fan of C&W myself but glad to see artist come out of this neck of the woods.

I suppose the best albums can aim to do the same…
and I concur.
This rendition is as dark and twisted as the original, maybe even more… very poignant given the years between the early 1990’s and the current state of things in this American life.

I love this album, but I skip over this song every time. I just don't like the cover. This is Nervana's song.

Okay, so I'm in two minds about this. It's obviously, objectively worse than Nirvana's version, and is completely unnecessary.
The nice part is at least Simpson put enough of a different spin on it to make it original and interesting. This is no Tori Amos Teen Spirit nonsense, which is about the best thing I can say about it. "Acceptable."

Its hard for me to believe that this is the first time this has been played on RP. It is definitely worthy of the station and a standout cover of a much beloved Nirvana staple. Kurt and the boys would be pleased... and I wanted it go go on for a few minutes more
